People Networks
One of our colleagues likes to point out that “your network is your net worth.” It’s true that connections are one of the best assets that IT students and professionals have when they are considering career moves in the region. Peer networks are also great places to meet people and learn about new technologies, applications, and opportunities.
Here are links to some of the IT professional networks that meet regularly in the St. Louis area.
BDPA St. Louis Chapter
The BDPA was founded more than 30 years ago to strengthen the presence of minorities in the up and coming IT community. Today, it is a global member-focused organization that positions its members at the forefront of the IT industry. BDPA is committed to delivering IT excellence to our members, strategic partners, and community.
Objectives include:
- Supporting the interest of those exploring the IT field as a career or business opportunity,
- Providing a forum for developing skills and interest within the IT industry
- Enhancing awareness of the IT industry within every community.

St. Louis Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP)
AITP offers opportunities of Information Technology (IT) leadership and education through partnerships with industry, government and academia. AITP provides quality IT related education, information on relevant IT issues and forums for networking with experienced peers and other IT professionals. - Adopted July, 2001.
Come join us for our monthly dinner meetings in St. Louis! These meeting are usually held the 4th Thursday of each month at the Crown Plaza in Clayton. These meetings features a social hour to network with our fellow IT professionals, dinner, and a speaker who presents a topic relevant to information technology. Society for Information Management- St. Louis (SIM)
Established in 1968, the Society for Information Management (SIM) is the premier network for IT leaders comprised of nearly 3,000 members, including CIOs, senior IT executives, prominent academicians, consultants, and other IT leaders. SIM is a community of thought leaders who share experiences and rich intellectual capital that is applied, and who explore future IT direction. In partnership with its 30 chapters, SIM provides resources and programs inspired by IT leaders for IT leaders that enable CIOs to further develop the leadership capabilities of themselves and the key and emerging leaders in their organizations. SIM provides the collective voice to advocate policy and legislation on behalf of the IT profession across industries.
The Mission of the St. Louis Chapter of SIM is to support IT leaders in the greater St Louis area by: Increasing the knowledge base of SIM members and associates
- Giving back to local communities
- Increasing awareness on issues of importance to the local community
- Developing the next generation of effective IT leaders
- Establishing a forum to bring together IT professional across industries
